Unbound  - Shortfilm Concept - MA Final Project

Set in a bleak world where all plant life has vanished, Iris, a young girl, is inspired by the memory of her grandmother and her deep love for nature. She dreams of a world where greenery and city life coexist, buildings draped in leaves, vines creeping through cracks, plants towering taller than skyscrapers. But her research leads nowhere, and as frustration and hopelessness seep in, the first rainfall in years begins to fall, a quiet, but powerful reminder that change is still possible.

This animation serves as creative research into how Hopeful Speculative Fiction can raise awareness of urgent envi-ronmental issues. Many speculative narratives focus on dark futures, often leading to a sense of helplessness. My aim is to challenge that by showing that even in the worst-case scenario, there is still potential for restoration.
